Postponements:
If you are planning to postpone your 2021 wedding into 2022, this section is for you. At this point it is recommended to WAIT as the state and local officials are slowly reopening the industry and allowing events to happen as vaccines become regularly available.

Our contract has changed a lot since some of you signed back in 2019. Depending on your contract will depend on if you have a fee regardless of what day of the week you switch to. However in most cases, if you move your wedding to a Saturday, you will most likely be charged a 15% rescheduling fee. If you reschedule to a Friday or Sunday, you may be subject to a fee. Regardless you will have to sign a new agreement with us. The new date must be within 6-12 months of your original date or you will be subject to our new package prices.

Why will I be charged a fee?
First off - We hate adding fees to any of our wedding packages. However, these past 2 years have been really difficult in our business. If we continue to reschedule couples without any fees we won’t be able to keep our business alive. In some situations, we’ve held dates for over 2 years. As we enter into 2021, and couples continue to reschedule, we will lose out on new clients because we’ve held your date for over a year. Because we will be continuing our work for a few more months, or even an additional year, a fee is necessary.

Wouldn’t the “force majeure” clause apply?
No. A force majeure policy is put in action when an unexpected event occurs. Since COVID has now been around for a year, it no longer applies.

What’s your availability like for 2021/2022?
We are currently handling this on a case-by-case basis. Our 2021 & 2022 calendar has not been finalized. Our hope is that by the spring we will have a better game plan when it comes to postponements and has our availability posted here on this site. Check back later for updates.

Cancelations & Refunds:
If you are considering canceling your wedding, please contact us right away

General overview of our cancelation policy:
If you cancel your wedding, you must notify us in writing right away, which will null in void our agreement together. No money paid, including money paid after the deposit will be refunded. If you are 60 days prior to your wedding and you cancel, you will be responsible for the remainder of the wedding package regardless (this may be 8 months rather than 60 days depending on when you booked us).

Do I get a refund for the money I paid?
The short answer: No. Our contracts only allow us to refund a couple if we as the photographers, cancel. Not if the client cancels.

What if I paid all of our original wedding invoice off, and now are considering canceling the wedding?
Unfortunately this wouldn’t be recommended because you would not receive any money back. A number of our clients followed their original wedding invoice due dates in 2020 as a way to secure their new rescheduled wedding dates in 2021 and to not have to worry about any money for their new dates because everything was already paid off. This was industry standard last year for vendors who didn’t charge any rescheduling fee.

My contract mentions the non-refundable deposit, but doesn’t mention any other money, do I get a refund?
No. We mention the non-refundable deposit most places because that’s what the couple pays when they originally sign the agreement, but any money paid is non-refundable unless the business themselves cancel on the client. This is industry standard.

Smaller Weddings:
Questions regarding splitting your wedding coverage into two days, one this year and one next

If you’re planning on having a smaller wedding and don’t need the entire coverage originally booked with your wedding package you have a couple of options here:

1. Keep your full wedding package and we’ll come up with a game plan for the remaining coverage time. The unused package time can be used for a day before the session, day after session, rehearsal coverage, or even gifted to a family member for any other service we offer.

2. Use the amount of coverage time now and plan for a bigger wedding in the future. Or some coverage from the bigger day and use the remainder for the bigger day.

3. Cancel your wedding package and book a smaller intimate wedding collection with us.

Can I remove hours/coverage from my package since I’m having a smaller wedding?
No. As mentioned during all of our consultations, we never allow you to remove options, items or services from our Collections. If you want to use some of the coverage for something else, such as rehearsal coverage, day after or a day before coverage, or anything like that we’d be more than happy to work with you.

In Summary:

COVID has changed our business a LOT and while this site does offer a good insight into what you could expect when making plans for your day, keep in mind that everyone’s situation is different. If you are considering any of these changes please reach out to us ASAP to discuss what kind of impact it could have on your wedding day.

As the situation changes, our policies may change along with it. Like most businesses, we “rolled with the punches” as 2020 hit and forced us to make a lot of different changes. This site will continually be updated to inform you of the latest guidelines from RI & MA, as well with popular questions we keep receiving regarding our policies. Should a question arise, please be sure to email us right away at ryan@ryandevoll.com

Thank you,
Ryan & Jenn

2017 in Photographs

2017 brought us new adventures, happiness, and so much more. It was one crazy year and I can't believe it's already over. This year we delivered over 15,000 images to more than 25 clients. Thank you to all the clients who allowed us to document their story this year. I do this all for you. Your stories, love and support are what keeps me going. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Here is a look back on 2017...

I got to photograph two of my best friends in the back of a pickup truck. Which I stole from my uncle and drove over 40 miles just to do so.

We returned to our roots and photographed your family. Even if that meant going out a day after a blizzard rolled in.

Molly & Brian | Metacomet Country Club Wedding

Here we are folks...The last wedding of 2017. Jenn and I can't thank all of the amazing couples, families and friends that we had the honor to photograph this year. Without you, this ship would've sank a long time ago. Your love stories are what keeps me going. We still have some lovebird sessions to post but we wrapped up the wedding season with Molly & Brian and their AMAZING, down right awesome wedding party. We honestly couldn't have asked for a better couple to close out the season. This wedding had it ALL! Molly & Brian met at Providence College and it was just the perfect spot to them bring them back full circle and get married. Marring your love one where you once met all those years ago seriously made the day feel magical. I had no idea Providence College was so beautiful! Their church on campus made for the ceremony's beautiful photos and PC's draw dropping campus made for stunning photos of Molly & Brian! After tying the knot we headed to Metacomet Country Club where we were blown away with beautiful fall views of their golf corse. The staff at Metacomet was so accommodating to our team that I honestly can't thank them enough! Molly & Brian's band choice, Young Love and the Thrills blew the roof off during the reception and had EVERYONE on the dance floor all night. At one point, Brian's mom even tied together some napkins and made a giant jump rope and had everyone join in. Although I wanted to include every single photo from their day, I had to cut back just a bit for now.

It's weddings like Molly & Brian's that make me love what I do. I hope you enjoy these sneak peeks.

With love,
Ryan

Cassandra & Paul | Bittersweet Farm Westport, MA Wedding

As a wedding photographer you pretty much always look forward to your weddings. You get to know the couple over the course of a year with their family and their relationships. It all comes together beautifully in the end. For Cassandra & Paul I enjoyed everything just a little bit more than usual. Cassandra was a referral bride from another client of mine, Tanna. Anytime a bride comes to me from another client, I am instantly more excited than usual. Not only did Tanna send Cassandra my way but Tanna was actually the MOH which made this day even better! To top it all off, Cassandra & Paul got married at one of my favorite venues: Bittersweet Farm

Bittersweet was one of the first ever venues I got to photograph at professionally on one of my first ever weddings (Alice & Josh for those of you who've been around awhile). I absolutely love the farm feel, mixed with the amazing food and beautiful ceremony location. It couldn't be a better place to tie the knot for these two.

Cassandra & Paul - Thank you for allowing me to document your day and spend time with you, your family and your friends. Jenn and I truly had a blast and we can't wait to show you more.

For now, here's a sneak peek!

Jessica & Kyle | Alpine Country Club Cranston, RI Wedding

On a rainy October day Jessica & Kyle stepped out to tie the knot. Little did they know that by the afternoon and right before their ceremony, the sun would come out and warm us all up a bit!

These two were so much fun to get to know over the last year. Their wedding was a blast and I had an amazing time documenting their day. To photographing both of them getting ready, to then their first look at Roger Williams Park then to their venue, The Alpine Country Club which provided even more beautiful backdrops for images, I couldn't be happier with the result.

I hope you all enjoy this sneak peek!

Special thanks to all the vendors who made Jessica & Kyle's day possible:

Jessica & Nick | Boston, MA Engagement Session

Whenever a couple tells me they're from Boston and want to do their engagement photos in their favorite neighborhood, I get super excited. For one, I love Boston. It was actually going to be my home before I decided to switch and go to school for photography instead of music. Two, Boston's neighborhoods are so photogenic. I'm telling you, you can probably photography anywhere in the city and it could come out incredible.

That being said, Jessica & Nick took it one step further and took photos at their favorite restaurant and place where they got engaged - Coppa. Special thanks to the restaurant owner, Ryan for allowing us to photograph during a busy dinner service! After photographing there we headed out to the streets of the South End and Boston Common/Back Bay and has so much fun. I'm in love with this session and couldn't make up my mind if I loved the artsy look or the more traditional look, so instead of deciding I went with both!

Jenn and I later ended our night back at Coppa for dinner ourselves and their food was incredible. My mouth is currently watering thinking about it! We can't wait to head back to Boston for our next adventure!

Molly & Brian | Mount Hope Farm in Bristol, RI Wedding

Every season I tend to walk away from at least one wedding thinking "dang, that was one heck of a night. I had a blast!". As a wedding photographer I attended a lot of weddings. Probably more than anyone will in their whole lifetime will and every single wedding tends to be a boatload of fun. However there is always one each year that rocks my socks off. This year, it happened to be Molly & Brian's wedding.

I met Molly & Brian over a year ago and remembered talking to them and instantly clicking. We hit it off quickly, got to know one another over lunch, Skype calls and more over the past year and finally - Their day had arrived. It felt like just the other day that we were photographing at Colt State Park in the dead of winter for their engagement photos (which turned out awesome by the way! Check them out here). Finally the day arrived, the clouds cleared and their beautiful fall wedding was here. Set up at Mount Hope Farm, they couldn't have asked for a better venue and backdrop. The ceremony location was absolutely draw dropping, the tent right next to the water was so New England and paired well with Molly's childhood memories of sailing with her dad on their boat in Rhode Island. The band, Kahootz absolutely KILLED IT with the entertainment for the night. Nobody left the dance floor. I even got down and dirty at one point (photos below to prove it). I also may have snuck in singing a song or two. Speaking of - Molly is a voice instructor in NYC, which made this wedding 10x better. From vocals from her bff's during the ceremony, to Molly singing a song to Brian and bringing everything to tears, to the surprise speech her sister gave in song, this wedding was clearly a musical in real life, and I loved every second of it.

Enough about these two. Check out their sneak peek below.
